Founded in 1981, Jiangsu Asian Star Anchor Chain Co., Ltd. (Listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2010, stock code 601890) (ASAC for short) specializes in the design, manufacture and research of marine mooring chains, marine anchor chains and connectors.

ASAC is trusted by customers worldwide for its astounding production capacity and advanced technical capabilities. Since its establishment over 40 years ago, the company has become a world leading chain manufacturer with an annual output of nearly 350,000 tons of chains, 5000 tons of accessories. The heaviest casting ASAC can produce is 120 tons. Over 60% of its products are sold overseas and are widely used in fields such as offshore oil & gas platforms, offshore wind power, marine ranching and shipping.

The company is headquartered in Jingjiang, Jiangsu Province, China and has subsidiaries in multiple parts of the country, including Asian Star (Zhenjiang) Mooring Chain Co., Ltd. and Asian Star (Ma’anshan) High-Tensile Chain Co. Ltd., totaling around 1,500 employees.

As a production and export hub of offshore mooring chains, offshore wind power equipment, large marine anchor chains and accessories, the company has a heavy-lift quay along the Yangtze River, which consist of one 5,000-ton berth and two 2,000-ton berths.

The main products of the company include anchor chains (Grade 2 ~ Grade 4) and mooring chains (R3 class ~ R6 class) with diameters from 12.5 to 240 mm as well as their corresponding connectors. ASAC has obtained quality management system certificates issued by several certification bodies, such as CCS, DNV and API. In addition, it has been certified by inspection bodies of environmental management systems, occupational health and safety management systems and energy management systems. The products have been approved by multiple classification societies, such as ABS, BV, CCS, DNV, KR, LR, NK, RINA and RMRS.

ASAC manufacture products that comply to globally recognized standards including ISO1704, ISO20438, GB/T12718 and DIN22255 as well as various classification society specifications. Our services also include designing different custom products and subsequently mass producing them for supply is also part of our services. ASAC also provides full turnkey of customised products from design to manufacturing. 

Innovation is always the driving force of its development at ASAC. As a Chinese high-tech national enterprise, we own national-level technology centers as well as provincial-level key laboratory and engineering technology research centers across the country. In 2010, the R5 class mooring chains developed by ASAC was used for China’s first 3,000 m deep-sea semi-sub rig “Ocean Oil 981”. As a participant of the project, ASAC won the 2014 China National Science and Technology Progress Award. In 2020, the R6 class mooring chains developed by the company was used for the first time in the whole world on the new generation deep-sea rig “Deep Blue Exploration”. In 2021, the company’s mooring products were used on China’s first floating offshore wind power platform “Three Gorges Lead”.

It is also worthwhile mentioning that the marine anchor chains of ASAC were selected for the luxury giant cruise ships “Oasis of the Seas”, “RMS Queen Mary 2” and “MS Freedom of the Seas”.
